Membership

Membership of the Institute of Builders’ Merchants will be awarded to Management and Senior employees who have achieved the recognised professional standard .

Membership costs are currently a £40.00 registration fee to cover the cost of administration and Members Certificate.
Thereafter there are currently no annual fees

Membership Qualifications

To be accepted as a Full Member of the Institute, individuals need to have attained one of the following qualifications:-
 

University Degree

Higher National Certificate (HNC) of Business Studies

                                       Higher National Diploma (HND) of Business Studies

The Institute of Builders Merchants Business Studies Course

BMF Diploma in Merchanting

NVQ Level 4

Saint Gobain Building Distribution – Business Management for Branch Managers

Saint Gobain Building Distribution – Potential Branch Manager Programme

Or other qualifications as approved by the Board

All above to include two years experience in a supervisory/management position within the Builders Merchants industry or other approved employment

Senior Managers within the industry will be considered for membership by the Board on the basis of prior learning and / or experience.

Membership of the Institute is subject to an initial registration fee of £40.00 to cover the cost of administration and certificate. Thereafter, membership is currently free.

Upon certification by the Institute, all Members are entitled and encouraged to use the initials MIBM after their name in their professional and business capacity.

Members are allocated to the Branch closest to their contact address. Alternatively, Members can request a specific Branch if its geography suits them better

The Institute is run by it’s Members, for it’s Members and is independent of all other industry bodies.

Once completed and signed, please send it to the Administrator with the appropriate fee.

Your application will then be processed and if approved, a certificate of membership will be sent to you.
